Volunteers in Parks Programs Manager

 

The Volunteers in Parks (VIP) Program Manager oversees all education and stewardship programs managed by Stewards in the Russian River Sector of the Sonoma Mendocino Coast District, and is responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling, evaluation and retention of volunteers in the VIP and Stewards education and stewardship programs. The VIP Program Manager ensures that all volunteers feel welcomed and at home in the Stewards and State Park community, manages relationships with volunteers, serves as liaison to volunteers and staff, and represents State Parks and Stewards volunteer programs in the greater Sonoma County community. In addition, the Program Manager works with support staff to schedule schools and groups of all ages that request docent-led programs, and with a Programs Committee to schedule workshops, certification programs and seminars for public enjoyment and education. The VIP Program Manager also works to ensure that environmental education programs for youth meet the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Common Core Standards.

Bicultural and bilingual (Spanish/English) speaker is preferred for this position

Administrador de Programas Voluntarios en los Parques

El Administrador de programas Voluntarios en los Parques supervisa todos los programas de educación y cuidado responsable del medio ambiente dirijidos por Stewards en el sector del Russian River del Distrito Sonoma Mendocino Coast, y es responsable por reclutamiento, capacitación, programación, evaluación y retención de voluntarios en los programas de Voluntarios de Parques y los de educación administrados por Stewards. También asegura que todos los voluntarios sean bienvenidos y acogidos en las comunidades de Stewards y Parques Estatales, administra la relación con voluntarios y sirve como de conector entre voluntarios y personal, Representa a los programas de voluntaries de los Parques Estatales y Stewards en Sonoma County. Board Members Wanted!

Stewards is currently looking to add a few new board members to our leadership team. The board plays a key role in working with the Executive Director to make policy and operational decisions for the organization as well as helping to raise the funds needed to carry out our work. Board members commit to attending monthly board meetings and at least one monthly committee meeting, as well as giving at a level that fits their ability. If you are interested, you are encouraged to contact Board President Donna Roper at dodesr@aol.com or Board Vice-President Hollis Bewley at hollisbewley@comcast.net. You are welcome to attend a monthly board meeting before you decide to apply. They usually occur on the 4th Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Stewards’ office.
